APPLE PAY ACTIVATION SCAM

Stay one step ahead

Fraudulent Apple Pay Activations

SF Fire Credit Union is aware that identity thieves are making fraudulent attempts to activate Apple Pay using stolen card numbers, often in combination with spoofed cell phone numbers. We would like to remind all members to take all reasonable steps to protect your card information and your cell phones.

Warning Signs and Precautions

  • Be aware of calls, emails, or texts requesting personal information or sending you unexpected SMS activation codes.
  • Your cell phone should have a passcode.
  • Protect all your financial accounts with verbal passwords, so that you can be easily identified when you call for service, and fraudsters can easily be thwarted.

If Your Information is Compromised

If you have reason to believe your card number or your cell phone number has been compromised, contact us right away. We can block and replace your card number.
